What gives a person a right to run for a president? Is it a grand delusion of greatness? Perhaps it is in which family you born? Or is it his genes?
Looking at the list of the richest people on the planet, 80% or more of them are self-made people. They started at the bottom, but rose to the top. Looking at these example people often assume that these people got lucky or they try to find some other explanation to why they made it, while the rest of us are still where we are. Still, I believe that there is something we all are missing, which we can start doing today that sooner or later will bring us these unimaginable heights.
For me, personally, I believe that it is ongoing education that gets people to these great heights. Specifically, the more we know, the more we earn. SEOs are said to read, on average, 80 books per year, which is probably why they are SEOs. Warrant Buffet now claim to be reading 80% of his free time, and this guy has a lot of free time on his hands. Perhaps, this is why he is a billionaire.
Having this in mind, how does a person become a president? I really believe that a great analogy is to learning a new language (believe me I speak 8 languages). 1 word will opens a ways to 5 words and we need only 2000 words to speak a language on a basic level (i.e., 2000/5 = 400 words). Same can be said for becoming a president. They just go through exponential growth of constant learning, where as, one world, one new piece of information, one additional insight, opens 5 new opportunities, each of which gets them closer and closer to their seemingly unachievable goal of running a country.
Thus, yes, being born into a rich family helps, yes genes help too, and ambition is not far behind. All these things push people towards the right direction of growth or perhaps give people an unfair advantage. Still, all these gifts can be wasted if people don’t put in the work to and push that advantage to the next levels.
Thus, I decided to make an experiment. Every day for the next 1 year, I will learn a minimal of 1h per day whatever I want / need to learn. As such, I have already composed a list of things where my attention has to go. My list includes dancing classes, languages, and business related subjects. Of course, I have a priority list of what has to be learned first and whats later.
And while I don’t believe that I will be a president of a country next time we meet, I When we meet again, Im sure I it will be a different person who speaks to you, hopefully for the better.
